Resume of Religious Building Projects

The following is an alphabetical listing of religious building projects completed by this firm since 1990.  Many of these buildings are historic; date of construction, where known, is listed.

Abbey of New Clairvaux: Chapter House, Vina, CA.  Schematic Design and Master plan for early thirteenth century chapter house reconstruction (1995).

Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Greece, NY.  Built in 1955, addition in 1960.  Master Plan (2003).  Completed 18,000 square foot addition including new sanctuary and fellowship hall, Fall 2006.

Aquinas Institute, Rochester, NY.  Built ca. 1925; individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Condition Report (1989/update 1995).  EPF[1] repairs: masonry and windows (1997).

Asbury First United Methodist Church Campus, Rochester, NY.  Built ca. 1890-1953; in National Register district and locally designated preservation district.  Condition Report and master plan (1987).  Continuing consulting regarding maintenance and repairs to masonry, roofing, landscaping, interiors, mechanical systems, and roofing replacements.  Master plan updated 2002.  Gathering space addition and accessability improvements, completed Spring 2007.

Barre Center Presbyterian Church, Albion, NY.  Built mid 19th century.  Master plan (2000).  Accessible building addition design (2003).

Bethany Presbyterian Church, Greece, NY.  Built 1949 and 1955.  Limited exterior masonry survey and repairs (2005).

Central Presbyterian Church, Avon, NY.  Handicapped accessibility study and tower inspection (1990-1991).

Christ Church, Rochester, NY.  Built 1855/1892/1902 (tower added).  Corrections of damage caused by an exterior ramp (1994).  Condition Report (March 2008).

Christ Episcopal Church, Albion, NY.  Site Consultation Report (1991).

Christ Episcopal Church, Pittsford, NY.  Built ca. 1867; in National Register district and locally designated preservation district.  Historic Pittsford report (1984).  Heating system study (1989).  Continuing consultation.

Church of the Epiphany, Gates, NY.  Chancel renovations, Master planning (1999).

Church of the Redeemer, Addison, NY.  Built 1859; individually listed on the National Register.  Condition Report (1993).

Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, Clifton Springs, NY.  Built ca. 1840.  16,000 square foot addition containing fellowship hall, and Christian education classrooms which accommodate a daycare program during the week (2003).

Congregation Beth Hamedresh – Beth Israel, Rochester, NY.  Built 1910; in National Register district and locally designated preservation district.  Condition Report (1994-1995). Plumbing/electrical and handicapped access entrance design (1999).  EPF funded exterior restoration (2001).

Fairport United Methodist Church, Fairport, NY.  Built 1956, additions in 1964,1994.  Condition Report (2004).

First Baptist Church, Rochester, NY.  Built in 1954, addition in 1961.  Roofing and window survey (2004).  Repairs are continuing.

First Congregational Church, Malone, NY.  Built 1883; individually listed on the National Register.  Condition Report (1990).  Tower Condition Report (2006).

First Presbyterian Church, Albion, NY.  Built ca. 1845 and 1874.  Report of site visit (1996).  Roof replacement (1998).  Spire masonry repairs (2000).  Master plan (2003).  Sanctuary restoration (2007).

First Presbyterian Church, Batavia, NY.  Built 1854-55.  Condition Report (1997).  Tower Survey (2003).  Tower repairs (2004-2005).

First Presbyterian Church, Buffalo, NY.  Built 1888, 1891, 1897, 1925.  Condition Report (2007).  Tower Masonry Investigation (2007).

First Presbyterian Church, Corning, NY.  Built 1867, 1966.  Renovations to undercroft and construction of stair tower and elevator (2000).

First Presbyterian Church, Honeoye Falls, NY.  Built ca.1845.  Contributing building to Honeoye Falls National Register District.  Interior renovations to worship space (2001).

First Presbyterian Church, Pittsford, NY.  Built 1868, additions in 1956 and 1968.  Contributing building to Village of Pittsford National Register District.  Report of Tower Inspection (2000).  Spire repairs (2001).  EPF exterior repairs and restoration currently under way.  The building suffered a fire in August, 2004.  Building restoration completed Spring 2006.

First United Methodist Church of Canandaigua, Canandaigua, NY.  Built 1902.  Schematic Design, continuing.

First Universalist Church, Rochester, NY.  Built 1907.  Heating Study (1983).  Roof Repairs (1986).  Schematic Design (1999).  Gutter Repairs (2008).

Grace Episcopal Church, Lyons, NY.  Built 1838, 1858.  Condition Report (2007).

Irondequoit Church of Christ, Rochester, NY.  Built 1880, 1920.  Master plan (2007).

Lake Avenue Baptist Church, Rochester, NY.  Built ca. 1970s.  Exterior wall study and replacement (1994-1996).

Lima Presbyterian Church, Lima, NY.  Built ca. 1874; in National Register district.  Condition Report (1988).  EPF funded exterior restoration (1998-2000).

Mendon Presbyterian Church, Mendon, NY.  Built 1898, wing added 1954.  Initial site visit and general comments (1998).  Condition Report (2002).  Spire Inspection and Report (2003).  National Register nomination in progress.

Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greece, NY.  Built 1958.  Sanctuary added in 1967.  Master plan, 2004.  Fund raising under way.  Phase I accessibility and egress improvements completed (2007).

New Life Presbyterian Church, Rochester, NY.  Built 1901/1924.  Report of Site Visit (1994).

North Presbyterian Church, Elmira, NY.  Built 1889.  Report of Site Visit (1995).  Major renovation (1998).

Northside Church of Christ, Rochester, NY.  Built 1877.  Condition Report (2007).

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rochester, NY.  Built ca. 1920.  Assistance with insurance claims due to roof leaks on the convent (2002).  Report of Site Visit on the rectory (2004).  Assistance with drainage improvements (2004).  Condition Report (2008).

Pullman Memorial Universalist Church, Albion, NY.  Built 1894.  Site Consultation Report; Masonry Consultation; Roofing Master plan (1991-994).

St. James Episcopal Church, Batavia, NY.  Built 1908, addition ca. 1953.  Condition Report (2004).

St. John’s Episcopal Church, Honeoye Falls, NY.  Built ca. 1840; in National Register district.  Report of Site Visit (1990).  Condition Report (2003).

St. John’s Episcopal Church, Mt. Morris, NY.  Built ca. 1857; individually listed on National Register and in National Register district.  Condition Report (1992).  EQBA repairs (1995).

St. Luke’s and St. Simon Cyrene’s Episcopal Church, Rochester, NY.  Built ca. 1824; in National Register district.  Condition Report (1987).  Steeple restoration (1998).  Interior renovations (2000).

St. Michael’s Church, Newark, NY.  Built 1908.  Report of Site Visit (1998).  Slate roofing replacement (1999).

St. Michael’s Church, Rochester, NY.  Built 1893; listed on National Register.  Report of Site Visit (1998).  Slate roofing replacement (1999 and 2002).  Condition Report (2002).  Spire repair (2008).

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Rochester, NY.  Built 1897; in National Register district and in locally designated preservation district.  Report of Site Visit and building repairs (1997).  Roof repairs (1998).  Master plan (1999).  Renovations (2002).  Parish hall renovations (2006).  Education building masonry repairs (2008).

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Stafford, NY.  Built 1848.  Parish Hall Design Study (2006).

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Pittsford, NY.  Built ca. 1884; in National Register district and locally designated preservation district.  Historic Pittsford Report (1990).

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Henrietta, NY.  Built ca. 1980.  Report of Site Visit (1995). Siding replacement (1997).

St. Stanislaus Church, Rochester, NY.  Built 1909; locally designated landmark.  Monitored masonry cracks in church tower (1988).  Condition Report (1998).  Tower Restoration (1999).  Metal roof replacement (2000).  Cupola replacement (2004).  The tower restoration received an Award of Merit in 2000 and the congregation won a Special Achievement Award in 2004 from the Landmark Society of Western New York for their care of this building.  In 2005 the Preservation League of New York State selected St. Stanislaus for its Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation.

St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Rochester, NY.  Schematic Design and Feasibility Study for bathroom and bride’s room (1992).

Third Presbyterian Church,  Rochester, NY.  Built 1893.  Design & Contract Administration for Site Identification (2003).  Exterior masonry inspection (2005).

Trinity Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Rochester, NY.  Condition Report (2002).

Trinity Episcopal Church of Geneva, Geneva, NY.  Built 1844.  Condition Report (2007).

Unitarian-universalist Church of Cortland, “The Old Cobblestone Church,” Cortland, NY.  Built 1837, extensively remodeled 1890’s.  Report of Site Visit partially funded by the New York Landmarks Conservancy (2002).  Miscellaneous telephone consultations since.

Webster Baptist Church, Webster, NY.  Built ca. 1830-50; individually listed on National Register.  Report of Site Visit (1995).  Condition Report (2007).

Western Presbyterian Church, Palmyra, NY.  Built ca. 1845.  Inspection and Tower repairs (2000).

Zen Center of Rochester, Rochester, NY.  The Zen Center is located in historic buildings on Arnold Park, in the East Avenue Preservation District.  Consultations since 1987 regarding care, upgrading, access, etc.  In 1998 the Center acquired a 45 acre rural site, Chapin Mill, in  Stafford, NY.  Bero Architecture provided a Site Master plan (1998).  Phase I building design and construction documents (2002).  Construction (2003).  Phase II building design and construction documents (2006).  Construction (2006-2007).
