The following National Register listed properties, listed alphabetically, represent projects by Bero Architecture P.C. which received matching grants through New York State’s Environmental Quality Bond Act (EQBA) and Environmental Protection Fund (EPF). Refer to the key below for an explanation of the numerical codes following each entry. We do not contact individual clients to update reference names and phone numbers. Recent projects are more apt to have correct names and numbers than old projects.

Rochester, NY. Client: Aquinas Institute. Contact: Patrick Hanley, (585) 254-2020. Condition Report [1989] was the basis of a successful grant application. EQBA grant award: $300,000, [1995].

CAMPBELL-WHITTLESEY HOUSE (1,3)

Rochester, NY. Client: Landmark Society of Western New York. Contact: Henry McCartney, Executive Director, (585) 546-7029, x 21. Repair/rehabilitation work included re-roofing, installation of a handicapped ramp, repointing, and carpentry. EQBA grant award: $122,000, [1989].

CASCADILLA BOATHOUSE (1,3)

Ithaca, NY. Client: City of Ithaca. Contact: Leslie A. Chatterton, Department of Planning and Development, (607) 274-6555. Stabilization of timber frame building. EQBA grant award: $50,000, [2000].

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (3)

Pittsford, NY. Client: First Presbyterian Church. Contact: George Foster (585) 264-9737. Work includes roofing repairs, masonry restoration, and lightning arrester system. EPF grant award: $ 60,000, [2004].

FREDONIA OPERA HOUSE (1,3)

Fredonia, NY. Client: Fredonia Preservation Society. Contact: James Boltz, President, (716) 672-5341. Bero Architecture P.C. was hired to redesign the balcony stabilization in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. EQBA grant award: $262,000, [1992].

GEORGE EASTMAN HOUSE (1,3)

Rochester, NY. Client: International Museum of Photography at the George Eastman House. Contact: Kathy Conner, Curator, (585) 271-3361. Restoration of the arbor. EQBA grant award: $77,000, [1990].

HATCH HOUSE RESTORATION (1,2,3)

1369 East Avenue, Rochester, NY. Client: Congregation Beth Hamedresh-Beth Israel. Contact: Mark Bobb 271-4504. Repair/rehabilitation work included masonry repairs, window repairs, flat-seam metal roofing, and painting. EPF grant award: $90,000, [2000].

HERVEY ELY HOUSE (1,2)

Rochester, NY. Client: Daughters of the American Revolution. Contact: Peg Comfort, (585) 334-1793. EQBA grant award: $33,800, [1988].

HOYT-POTTER HOUSE (3)

Rochester, NY. Client: Landmark Society of Western New York. Contact: Henry McCartney, (585) 546-7029, x 21. Acquisition grant. Interior and exterior rehabilitation/adaptive re-use. Project also included historic landscaping, parking, and handicapped access ramps. EQBA grant award: $256,000 (acquisition), [1990].

LIMA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (1,2,3)

Lima, NY. Client: Lima Presbyterian Church. Contact: Fran Gotcsik, (585) 624-5674. Rehabilitation work included roofing, flashing, carpentry and trim repair, and storm drainage improvements. EPF grant award: $75,000, [1996].

PAUL SMITH’S POWER AND LIGHT COMPANY (1,3)

Saranac Lake, NY. Client: Village of Saranac Lake. Contact: Rob Camoin, Community Development Office, (518) 891-5928. Restoration of the facades. EQBA grant award: $190,000, [1990].

PROUTY-CHEW HOUSE (1,3)

Geneva, NY. Client: Geneva Historical Society. Contact: Charles Bauder, Executive Director, (315) 789-5151. Repair work to historic house museum (roofing, storm drainage, exterior carpentry and painting, restoration of the brick chimneys). EQBA grant award: $50,000, [1994].

ST. JOHN’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH (1,3)

Mt. Morris, NY. Client: St. John’s Episcopal Church. Contact: Father Robert Culp, (585) 658-3690. Repair work included masonry restoration, chimney cleaning, carpentry, slate repairs, asphalt roofing, and flashing repairs. EQBA grant award: $50,000, [1995].

ST. LUKE’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH (1)

SUSAN B. ANTHONY HOUSE VISITORS CENTER (1,3)

Rochester, NY. Client: Susan B Anthony House Inc. Contact: Lori Barnum, (585) 342-6481. Work included roofing, flashing, masonry, carpentry, window repair, and installation of a handicapped ramp. Restoration of the exterior was completed fall 1998. EPF grant award: $80,000, [1996].

WATERLOO LIBRARY (1,3)

Waterloo, NY. Client: Waterloo Library and Historical Society. Contact: Peter Houghton (315) 539-8632. Work includes slate roofing, flashing, masonry, carpentry, wrought iron restoration, and terra cotta restoration. Restoration of the exterior is in progress. EPF grant award: $165,770, [2004].
