Description: Bero Architecture prepared a Condition Report at the request of the USDA Forest Service to aid in the development and implementation of an upkeep stabilization plan for the lookout tower on Kearsarge North. The tower is no longer used as a fire lookout but is on a popular hiking trail and is frequently visited by the public.
The purpose of the report was to assess the condition of the structure, identify areas of concern, propose remedies, and estimate costs of remedial work. As recreational use of the nation's forests increases, use of the tower is expected to increase. Accordingly, safety of the public was also a principal concern of this study.
